I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Leap without Looking

From the Hezicos Tarot, the Knight of Wands; from the Way of the Horse Oracle, the "Field of Dreams:"
If you look closely, you'll notice an acorn design on this knight's helmet. His goal is to plant a lot of seeds (ahem, in more ways than one I imagine). Here is your go-to guy if you need some encouragement to get a project started, but he's not so great with the planning and follow-through parts. His helmet completely covers his ears, which is a hint at how well he's going to listen to what someone else has to say. But if you're the Fool who needs a push off that cliff, he's the man who can help.
The Field of Dreams card represents unexpressed imagination (the wide-open meadow) and the potential to fulfill your desires (the horse). I am reminded that whatever creative ideas I have, the first step of getting started is the hardest. Once I'm off and running, the momentum is there. So my virile and energetic knight stands in my corner shouting "Just do it!" as he prepares to push me over the edge.

  1. My first thought was I want such a guy around the house, but hen I realized he is an archetype I have to wake up in myself. Whining won't work, (The covered ears)
But identifying with that horse, running in the meadow, feeling the freedom, the wind through my manes, the pounding heart in my chest. Yest that'll do.
I love this horse oracle very much

    1. The Way of the Horse comes with a hardcover book that tells all kinds of stories that make the cards come alive. It really has a lot of heart and thought put into the set by the ladies who created it. :)

  2. I love The Way of the Horse. After I bought it I read two of Linda Kohanov's books on her horses and horse therapy--really interesting. I don't see too many people using it so was delighted to see it here.

(I also bought two Breyer horses for my dollhouse people--a good deck inspires figure purchases of all types.)

    1. While I love the beautiful artwork in this deck, I think it is the book Kohanov wrote to accompany it that makes it such a great set. I can understand why you would want to read other books she's written!

  3. Hilarious take on the Knight of Wands, his seed-sowing, and how pleas to be allowed to just relax would fall on deaf ears! And oh the joy, once you're up and running! :)

    1. This knight might be a handful (rather than helpful), but he does have a way a building a fire under one's feet (or other places, lol).
