I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Preparation is not a Four Letter Word

From the Idiosyncradeck Tarot, the Ace of Arrows (Wands); from the Answer Deck, Clarity:
In a barren area, an arrow has been planted in the ground. A small plant is beginning to grow around it's tip, but looking at that hot sun overhead, I wonder how it will survive. Is there an irrigation system in place? What about the nutrients it might need that aren't present in the sandy soil? The thing about being passionately motivated to act is our emotions can get ahead of our brains. Our enthusiasm overlooks the details that will require our project to stay alive. The Clarity card suggests (before going off half-cocked) we let our adrenaline rush die down just a bit, at least enough to let the mud settle. We might want to jump in immediately, but there's a good chance we're ill prepared to hang in for the long haul. Preparation might feel like it's slowing us down, but in the end it will be what keeps us going to the finish line.

  1. Good combo for a message today. I think these two decks work well together.

I LOVE that Idio. deck, I am such a fan of vector art. And she's Canadian too! She doesn't seem to be selling the deck any more, alas.

    1. It's hard to do a good deck with no people in it, but she did well I think. Maybe she is just waiting for a new batch of decks to be printed before she puts them on Etsy?

    2. I sent her a message, just to say I liked her art. She will say if she's having another batch printed I suppose.

So far my favourite cards that I've seen are the 7 of Cups and the 10 of Cups--must be the tea aspect! I like her trees too.

  2. My bugaboo is too many starts too few finishes :) Thank you again!

    1. Yes, me too. The excitement of starting something is hard to maintain through the whole process.
      It was my pleasure. :)

  3. This is a tough lesson for me too. Often I try to run as long as I can on the initial burst of fire so... lost of unfinished projects or I start only the projects that won't last too long like a quick pencil drawing instead of a multi layered watercolor :)

    1. Well a quick project sounds like a good idea; and that drawing could always be the foundation for something more involved later. :)

  4. Glad to see you blogging with this deck, Bev :) And I love your interpretation of the Ace of Wands! It's such a delicate balance, isn't it? Too much thought, not enough fire, and you never even get started; too much action and not enough thought and your actions achieve nothing...

    1. Had I not seen you using it on your blog, I know I wouldn't have bought it. :) But I love decks without humans that read well - and that's not an easy thing to pull off!
