I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Short-cuts and Substructure

From the Whimsical Tarot, the Chariot; from the Over the Moon Oracle, Support (6 of Clubs):
The Chariot is represented by Cinderella's pumpkin coach. I can just imagine the woman inside (having been mistreated and forced to live in poverty) not wanting to return to her old life after a magical night at the castle. I think we all face those kind of situations. Part of us wants to take the wise and prudent path, while the other side wants quick fixes and instant results. It's the reason why diet pills are such huge sellers, as well as other marketing strategies that promise fast, easy results. Cinderella did get her Prince, but not by taking a shortcut. The Support card shows us that while personal effort is a large part of the equation, having people that encourage and assist us along the way is important too. It's easy to see who these groups or individuals are - just wait until there's a crisis and see who shows up. It's nice to hear someone is thinking of you, but sometimes what is needed is compassion in action. Since the tornadoes, some churches have been out in the community with chainsaws and hot meals, offering to shelter those in need. Then there are those who are having weekly prayer circles. Want to guess which group is having the most impact? Fairy godmothers are in short supply, so the well-being of others is (for better or worse) in human hands. Yet I should always remember: one day I might be the supporter, and the next I might be riding in that wheelbarrow.

  1. Reminds me of the vast array of Christian orders, sects and fraternities in the reformation and counter reformation eras for whom tending to the sick, feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, welcoming travellers and even building roads and bridges was a form of prayer.

    1. I think if people truly studied the life of Jesus, they would find he was a social reformer who felt love and kindness trumped the law. :)

  2. "compassion in action" Great!!
Although I do believe in the power of prayer, I also firmly believe it is up to us to give God a hand to work some miracles. :)

    1. Exactly - prayer isn't meant to absolve us of action but to motivate us!

  3. Pumpkin carriage and a wheelbarrow carriage. Both are good modes of transportation, letting others help us out on the road of Life.

  4. I've pushed wheelchairs for miles and miles. The wheelbarrow pusher has just the right stance when going downhill. The possibility of letting go is not to be considered
