I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."
"The goal isn't to arrive, but to meander, to saunter, to make your life a holy wandering." ~ Rami Shapiro

But Impersonal

From the Dark Goddess Tarot, the Wheel of Fortune (Fortuna); from the Tattwa Cards, Earth: Seed of Water:

The world is vast, beautiful, and fascinating, even awe-inspiring - but impersonal.
—Herbert A. Simon

Lorenzi-Prince writes that Fortuna is far more interested in change than fairness. It is simply how the world functions in order to sustain itself. Those who are adaptable can deal with the difficult until the wheel rolls over again. When things are great, we can enjoy them fully with the knowledge that these times won't last. Earth: Seed of Water symbolizes boldness and change, however we before we try a different approach, we need to assess why things went sideways previously. Part of that change may be that we need to let go of ideas like "It must be this way. It should be this way." Instead, we can choose an appropriate and beneficial response to the way things are.

The Power of Different

From the Dark Goddess Tarot, the Empress (Dark Madonna); from the Tattwa Cards, Earth/Seed of Water:

My grandsons' elementary school had very few white children, so it wasn't unusual to see brown Santa decorations around Christmas. Humans tend to like their heroes to look like them. But it was unusual for the Black Madonna to show up in the predominantly white-skinned Europe. It appears we prefer our miracle workers to be different and unique. This Mother of Miracles encourages us to wish for the best outcome for all concerned, keeping our heart open and not limiting any situation by our definition of 'best'. Earth/Seed of Water suggests boldness in putting a new venture in motion, yet accepting the help of our allies when doing so. However, those partners may be different than we imagine. In the words of Bonnie Hammer: "This is the person you think is your antagonist, who ends up being your greatest ally: the person who pushes, criticizes, and challenges you to meet a standard of excellence you might not otherwise achieve."

Light from Darkness

From the Dark Goddess Tarot, the Stars; from the Tattwas Cards, 'Earth - Seed of Water:'
The Star can often feel like a place where we go to hide and lick our wounds after taking a hard knock. Realizing the mistakes and misperceptions that got us here, it can be tempting to want to stay in this place of in-between. Lorenzi-Prince describes Spider Woman, the Hopi goddess of thought and creation, as being able to draw "light and life from darkness." The companion book delivers her message: "The more you reach for what inspires you, the more your purpose becomes apparent." We start again, following the vision powered by our heart, not by others. The Tattwas Card, Earth: Seed of Water, reinforces this directive; it suggests boldness and motion as we move, guided by our inspiration. Yet the web of Spider Woman is a reminder of interconnection. There is no need to be a lone wolf when others are willing to walk with us.
