I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."
"The goal isn't to arrive, but to meander, to saunter, to make your life a holy wandering." ~ Rami Shapiro

Positive Action

From the Buckland Romani Tarot, the Queen of Koshes/Whips (Wands); from the Lakota Sweat Lodge Cards, The East:

I like to encourage people to realize that any action is a good action if it's proactive and there is positive intent behind it. ~Michael J. Fox

Don't let this sultry beauty fool you - she's definitely not a damsel in distress. She knows how to crack that whip in her hand and get people moving. But her first choice is to use her warm personality and charisma to nudge people along, encouraging them each step of the way. Yet the East, a symbol of clarity, suggests we pause long enough to see how deep and what's under the water we're about to dive into. As Greg Berlanti stated, "We're such a reactive culture... It takes a certain strength to be patient and have a plan." Some mental quiet and physical stillness may help us see what we might have missed.

Joy Times Two

From the Roots of Asia Tarot, the Queen of Wands; from the Mah Jongg Oracle, 'East:'
When someone rejoices in our happiness, their appreciation fills us with joy and gratitude. Yet is it not a rare quality to feel truly happy when others are happy? ~ dharmanet.org

Because she is so passionate and charismatic, the Queen of Wands sometimes gets a bad rap. Her presence turns head and her personality can turn the direction of events. She has the eye of a tiger, which makes some cower and sulk in the background (thinking this queen is full of herself). Yet those who don't disparage her discover a wonderful trait of this queen - sympathetic joy. Because she doesn't consider happiness a limited commodity, the Queen of Wands can rejoice in successes that are not her own. In fact that torch is held not only for herself, but as a symbol of her enthusiasm for others; she enjoys seeing other people fulfill their potential too. East is associated with spring and sunrise. This direction encourages me to let its light shine on how I view the happiness and success of others. If I find judgment or envy, I can let it go and thus add to my own joy rather than diminish it.
