I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."
"The goal isn't to arrive, but to meander, to saunter, to make your life a holy wandering." ~ Rami Shapiro

Like Water

From the World Spirit Tarot, the Nine of Wands; from the Mystic Glyphs, Moon Phases:

The wise adapt themselves to circumstances, as water molds itself to the pitcher.
–Chinese Proverb

The stance of this fellow reminds me of a tennis player; knees bent, he's ready to move in any direction and take action. When taking a posture of protection, we need to be awake as well as resilient, which requires the ability to be flexible when things change. Moon Phases suggest that things will change, though sometimes slowly. As the saying goes, "This too will pass," though it's too soon to let down our guard.

Personal Almanac

From the World Spirit Tarot, the Hermit; from the Mystic Glyphs, Moon Phases:

The Hermit reminds me that, rather than making new year's resolutions, it might be a good idea to reflect on how I responded to the past 365 days. Can I observe my patterns and determine whether they were beneficial or kept me stuck in an unskillful rut? What did I do that was constructive and useful? How did I relate to the people whose path also crossed my own? Now, acknowledging what I've found, I can decide what I want to do less of and what to do more. The Moon Phases are a reminder that nothing is set in stone. Even if external circumstances change very little, I can change how I react to them.

We don’t have to view ourselves as victims of an external world or as victims of our conditioning. We receive the fruit of seeds of the past as our experience right now, and we can choose to do what is helpful right now: to plant beneficial seeds.

Celebrate Change

From the World Spirit Tarot, the Ten of Cups:
There's a party goin' on right here
A celebration to last throughout the years
So bring your good times and your laughter too
We're gonna celebrate your party with you
~ Kool & the Gang
I just can't help it - whenever I see a Ten of Cups card like this one, the song Celebration automatically runs through my head. I wonder if the occasion portrayed here is a rite of passage, a festival, or just a family wanting to have some good old-fashioned fun. It reminds me I don't need to wait for something big to happen before I shake my groove thing. If I will look through eyes of gratitude, I'll find even the small stuff gives me a reason to party. In the words of Kool and the Gang, "Celebrate good times, come on!"

The card drawn from the Mystic Glyphs today is "Moon Phases:"
Rogers explains this glyph means there is a change or evolution within me, and that I shouldn't let my fear keep me from embracing it. I have felt this phase occurring on several levels, physically and spiritually. The old me would grip hard to try and keep things as they are, but the Ten of Cups suggests I attempt to see the good in these changes. Besides, once I get used to them, I'll probably not want to change them either!
