From the Druidcraft Tarot, Strength; from the Druid Animal, "Cow:"
The book for the Druidcraft describes the Strength card as "the meeting between the wild and civilized selves." Looking at both draws today, that's exactly what I see - the wild boar and the domesticated cow. The woman's sword is lying in the grass; she obviously knows her inner beast well enough not to have it in hand when it makes an appearance. Though the boar is behind her, her hand rests on its back. Awareness of its presence is half the battle in not allowing it to take control. Instead, she channels its energy into the shape of the cow - who doesn't exactly look meek either. The purpose of civilizing my beast is not to take away my power and courage, but to channel it in beneficial ways. I can keep my horns as long as I don't use them to gore anyone.
Have you seen the series Hamish Macbeth? There are always these type of cows in the introduction. So beautiful. Great series.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen it, but now that I've Googled it I'm interested. I'll have to see if Netflix has it. Those cows are lovely; they look like a cross between the types we have here and a St. Bernard!
DeleteJust a few kilometers from my house there is forest where these cows have a place to live. It is beautiful to able to be so close to them.
ReplyDeleteWhen I do channel this energy in civilized way we can can accomplish so much.
I love how these decks fit so perfectly together.
Ah, that would be so neat to see these feral cows! These decks are perfect right now for me since the skies are so gray and the weather rainy and cool. I need to see some green! :)
DeleteWe have the same weather here, We long for the sun to come out! it is almost depressing :D
DeleteI have to admit, I wouldn't want to come face-to-face in a field with either the boar or the cow! My experience with nature walks is that the best thing to do is keep my gaze averted and walk very slowly. Not really what the cards would say, though, is it?! :D
ReplyDeleteWe have small colonies of wild boars in rural areas around here, and they are dangerous. The cows I don't worry about and have walked in the fields with them, but the bulls.... no way! :)
