I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Balance and Dedication

From the Whimsical Tarot, the Two of Cups; from the Over the Moon Oracle, Doctor:
The children's story of "The Owl and the Pussycat" represents the Two of Cups, and it reminded me of how different my friends and partners are from myself in many cases. Of course we share some common values (both the owl and cat are meat eaters), but the way we go about doing things and the lens we use to view situations is often very different. Yet my weaknesses are usually the strengths I find in the people I care about, and vice versa. Our relationship brings a balance that might not have existed otherwise. The Doctor, slogging through knee-deep water, reminds me of the line in Robert Frost's poem: "But I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep." I've always imagined Frost's night traveler as a country doctor making visits to people who need his care. His profession requires deep commitment and dedication, much like what is needed to sustain a healthy relationship. The good doctor's oath of "do no harm" is just as important in relationships. Self-absorption is what will sink that little boat, while compassion is what will keep it afloat.

    1. I have a 1930s/40s doctors bag complete with lock but alas a broken handle so I can't go about with it pretending to do my rounds...your comment reminds me it needs a dose of TLC.

    2. @ Sharyn: It's hysterical how much we think alike (going down the same rabbit holes :D).

@ Trivium: I bet that bag of yours could tell some tales!

  3. And hand in hand, by the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon.

Verse of my childhood - thanks for triggering the memory...

  4. That is a lot of water in both cards. How are feeling about things? Need a hanky? Hope you are doing okay.

    1. There has been so much to do, there has not been much time to process the feelings. I imagine that will come later when things calm down.
