I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Truth Teller

From the Druidcraft Tarot, the Queen of Swords; from the Druid Plant Oracle, Borage:
The winds of the coming winter blow through this Queen, but she appears unruffled. She's a lover of truth and unafraid of reality. Probably the first cognitive therapist ever, this Queen looks at life straight on and knows how to tame emotions by keeping rein on her thoughts. Whether life tosses the unpleasant or pleasant at her, it is all a natural part of living which she doesn't take personally. Borage leans toward her with a message of courage. She's got that in spades for herself, but this plant is also an admonition to stand up for those who don't have a voice. In the basket rosemary grows (for remembrance) and below it thyme (for protection). It is not enough to speak one's own truth; sometimes we have to be willing to stand with others who need to speak theirs as well.

  1. One of my most favorite depictions of the Queen of Swords. A grey lady indeed :)
I love how you emphasize her willingness to stand up for others. Her motherly aspects are often and easily forgotten.

    1. I think so too; just because she's not all warm and fuzzy doesn't mean she's cold-hearted! Worthington has created one of the best depictions of this Queen.

    1. I figured a "green" deck might be nice before all the leaves start falling. :) Safe and pleasant travel, my friend.

  3. Hope your Doctor appointment went well. Is this Queen of Swords along to help you with your bursitis ailment? Will any of those herbs above help as well?

    1. I think this queen would tell me to be mindful of my body instead of trying to work it so hard. :)

  4. Speak and she appears! I LOVE your interpretation (rehabilitation) of this queen. So many people read her as negative. I had a reading where the reader said she is a thoroughly horrible woman and there is nothing to like about her. NO! she may be an intellectual/scientist and she may not suffer fools but she uses her power wisely and fairly (the double edged sword) as you say enabling others to speak their truths also.

    1. I just hooted when she showed up today. :) I don't like seeing her as uncaring either. She's smart and demands the truth, but that doesn't mean she's hateful. If I was a two-sided coin, I'd be the Queen of Pentacles on one side and the Queen of Swords on the other.
