I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Positive Purpose

This post is a little late because our county was one of several hit by a line of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes that blew through the South last night. My family was one of the lucky ones that just lost power and phones; a lot of the city looks like a bomb went off. Many friends and neighbors have huge oaks and other trees crushing their houses and cars. It is amazing that no one died here. Feeling grateful but also wanted to ask for good thoughts for those who weren't so lucky.

From the Tarot of the Secret Forest, the Magician; from the Faeries Oracle, Honesty:
When things fall apart or when life brings the unexpected, what happens to a person’s sense of personal power? Can the will be used to help clean up the chaos that is often left behind, allowing forward movement to eventually begin again? The lemniscate below the Magician is a reminder that the self-will is always within; yet the Magician can use it for positive purposes or to trick and manipulate. The Froud fairy Honesty shows up as a beacon for truth, and a warning to avoid lies, passive-aggressiveness or dramatics for attention. His message is to be honest but also tactful and compassionate. Clarity will be the result, making sure we are moving in the right direction. An objective and realistic view can be immensely helpful when trying to put one foot in front of the other.

  1. I am so relieved to hear you all are save my dear ((Bev))! It must have been so scary to be in the middle of such ravaging storms.
I have heard that Olivia (From First Earth tarot)in had a similar experience a few months ago and she was amazed how neighbors who merely said a quick "hello" before the storm, started helping eachother out, working together and getting to really know one another. In my opinion that is "Magic"
I sincerely wish you a good night sleep tonight and I hope your community will unite to pick up the pieces and to move forward
    Be safe my dear

    1. I walked the neighborhood today to check on the neighbors. Across the street from me, the neighbor's carport was crashed down on their two cars (they still don't have power). Around the corner, another neighbor has a huge pecan tree inside his house. We are one of the few who have had power restored. I don't have a chainsaw to help them, but did tell them to let us know if we could help in anyway. Southerners are good at reaching out to each other in times of crisis!

  3. All my best thoughts and hopes for your community. When the sense of security is gone, I will tell you the road is really hard to travel. It took me several years before I could take the lead again on things. When I walked anywhere it was always behind some else, so they could shield me. It was and from time to time still is, horrible. That is one of the reasons this vacation I am traveling alone. To prove to myself that I still can. Be Well and take care.

  4. I've seen damage like that in Wisconsin. Seeing that power in person makes me amazed that Carolyn survived at all.

  5. Dear Bev,

I meant to post this comment when I saw your's but of course got preoccupied with who knows what! I wanted to say how grateful I am that you're ok. The forces of nature have become so extreme that it's hard so many throughout the world to feel secure and safe.

We don't get things like tornadoes here and such but sometimes we get hurricane like storms. We are in for a big snow storm coming tonight, but we are used to Winter here with lots of snow. With climate change and such extreme weather, living by the coast we're very conscious of the threat of coastal erosion and rising tides.

Anyway Bev, I'm very grateful to know you're safe and sound! <3

    1. Our neighborhood now has electricity, though we are still running a generator for internet and phone. We are very grateful for our safety, and hope that others who weren't so lucky will soon get back in their homes.
