I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Passing the Cup

From the Tarot of the Cat People, the Queen of Cups; from the Sacred Geometry Oracle, Point:

Genuine compassion is uncomfortable. It’s difficult. It’s maybe even a little bit scary. But this is why it is so important, and why it has the potential to be so powerful. ~Constance Kassor

The Queen of Cups doesn't judge whether a person is deserving or not before she passes her cup of compassion to them. Her act of empathy and wish for the end of their suffering gives her joy and inner strength regardless of how it is received. She sees beyond outer appearances, knowing that everyone has a deeper value even it they are unaware of it. The Point is the jumping off place for something new; it suggests checking out the diving board we're leaping from. If it is full of unfounded expectations, we might want to reconsider. The starting point is just the place where we plant many seeds, but not all of them are guaranteed to grow.

Redrawing the Shape of Things

From the Tarot of the Cat People, Rejuvenation (Judgment); from the Sacred Geometry Oracle, the Point:
A woman breaks free from a cocoon while her cat begins its ninth life. We all have traumas, trials, and challenges that burn away everything extraneous; our life seems to become a crucible to refine what is important and beneficial. Such an experience can radically change our views and attitude, as Rabbi Harold Kushner explains: "We may not ever understand why we suffer or be able to control the forces that cause our suffering, but we can have a lot to say about what the suffering does to us, and what sort of people we become because of it. Pain makes some people bitter and envious. It makes others sensitive and compassionate." Here is where we begin again (the Point); we have the power to draw what our lives will look like. We choose the shape of our lives will take, not outwardly but inwardly.

Hiding from Life

From the Tarot of the Cat People, the Four of Pentacles; from the Sacred Geometry Oracle, the "Point:"
At first I thought this lady was protecting herself from the cat, but she's not even looking in his direction. It's more likely that the cat is wary of her; its animal instinct tells it that something is not quite right with this woman. She seems to be trying to shield herself from life with the pentacles. It's one of the many ways we try to fool ourselves into believing that we can find security in an ever-changing world. With the addition of the Point, I wonder where this woman crossed the line from seeing finances as a way to live, to living only to make money. What happened in her life, where was the defining incident from which her deluded thinking began? Maybe if she could find that point of origin, she could unravel her illusions and learn to live joyfully in each moment.
