This woman sits on her bare bum among ten overflowing cups. And though she doesn't look ecstatically happy, I believe she is content. She has learned to ground her emotions instead of being carried off by them. Life has been lived fully, and lessons have been assimilated. But there is no diploma or graduation; her restlessness will move her to choose one cup and start another journey. Yet nothing will be wasted; she will carry the wisdom of those other cups with her.
And where will this lass be headed? The Union card suggests toward a partnership or commitment of some kind. There can be emotional fulfillment when I learn to compassionately accept myself, but there is another kind when I find this contentedness with another person or group. Ideas, hobbies and goals are much more fun when I have someone else to share them with. Even the challenges don't seem as insurmountable when someone walks the road with me. So I'll raise my cup and watch the horizon, eager to see who I will meet along the way.
Tarot Pink
Just wanted to give a shout out for the Indiegogo project "Tarot Pink." Here are a few of the cards Hexi shared on Aeclectic:From what I understand, the deck/app will be published regardless if they reach their goal, but it would mean less money for cancer research. If you can, I hope you'll support their endeavor.
First we were sitting and listening to a bird; now we are sitting contently and are sipping from our cups, filled to the brim. How much more difficult can life make it to get off our bum and start moving again into the unknown. Luckily each morning has that promising freshness and is filled with new opportunities.
ReplyDeleteNice pair of cards
I can relate to her restlessness after coming full circle and feeling that sense of completion. That is what will get me off my bum! :)
DeleteHave you helped fund any other Indie or Kickstarter projects? I recently supported Liber Mundi, her knowledge of the system is massive. That is the only one so far for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't seem to be buying as many mass-produced decks lately, but I have been supporting quite a few trying to self-publish, such as Tarot Pink, Fountain and Liber Mundi. I've got her Rosetta, and it helped me grasp the Thoth tradition in a new, more understandable way.
DeleteI really like the Tabula Mundi. The shipping is so much, but maybe for a Christmas present. I like black and white decks and Thoth. Mmmm good artwork, one yearns to see it in concrete form--looks like the Kickstarter campaign is successful--great stuff.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I think it's all out of my league these days with Kickstarter and such. While realizing artists deserve to be paid it not like just going to the store and buying a deck any more.
What if you don't go out? Tarot decks for recluses......
I thought I saw a "Ships anywhere" 78 card deck plus large majors for $36 on her Kickstarter page. Maybe that doesn't include shipping? I guess it's a good thing I'm getting pickier about what decks I buy, if I'm going to be purchasing the self-published ones!
DeleteShe does ship anywhere but has this disclaimer:
Delete"Shipping is expensive outside of the US. I've absorbed the shipping costs within the US but unfortunately can't do that internationally, and for that I apologize; I really wish I could. Most rewards will ship USPS Priority with tracking but I can't be held responsible for shipments outside of the US once they are shipped, and any customs duty is the responsibility of the backer."
I saw on the Tarot Cart web page that the shipping would be $21 to Canada and $25 other international. C'est la vie.
If that's the case, she should take down the "ships anywhere" as it sounds like that is included in the price. Maybe not intentionally dishonest, but still...
