I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Expressed or Repressed

From the Rosetta Tarot, the Princess (Page) of Cups; from the Ascension to Paradise deck, the "Frogmouth:"
This Princess/Page is known for her sweetness, sensitivity and intuitive nature. Being "Earth of Water," she connects to her suit in physical ways (which explains the tortoise she holds and the salt crystals at her feet). Her kindness is shown by small gifts or notes, and she acts on any intuitive information she receives. Her emotions are displayed with tears, happy or sad. What she feel or senses is expressed outwardly.
The Frogmouth is a type of owl know for its wide beak. Its plumage is designed to enable it to blend into the tree branches and trunks it rests on. This owl is the opposite of the Princess; it prefers to stay hidden instead of showing itself. The companion book speaks of replacing fear with joy. How many things have not been done, and how many opportunities have been missed out of fear? For me, there have been many. The Princess of Cups encourages me to follow my intuition, no matter what my anxious ego natters on about.

  1. I can relate to the anxiety when new opportunities arrive so much. Fear to fail, fear to chose wrong; so many fears and insecurities are whirling through my mind. when trying something new. Facing the fear with kindness is the only option to overcome them and that takes a lot of courage:
"Courage is fear which has said its prayers
By the way, we both embrace that childlike energy to day :D
    "

    1. Yes, if I could see it through a child's eyes - as an adventure - I think I would be much more likely to shout "yes" rather than "no." :)

    2. Widemouth Frog is the only joke I can remember. Bea Arthur said it on TV eons ago. If we know what our widemouth is we have most of the battle won.

  2. Bev,
This kind of post that you have written about intuition, always speaks to my soul. Not trusting or ignoring my intuition has got me into trouble in the past that lead to hurt and regret. I had more than of my fill of suppressed feelings, leading to the heavy burden of repressed emotions that I was totally unaware of until I finally started to trust my inner vision, others, and the God of my understanding. I have no regrets today, and do my best to keep my heart open.

    1. "We will intuitively know how to handle situations that used to baffle us." :)

  3. I have to admit, I like this deck so much better than the Thoth. There is a warmth, gentleness and emotion to it that I don't see in the more accomplished artwork of Lady Frieda Harris. There's something about the way she's looking down that I really like, that element of shyness mixed with openness...

    1. I think you nailed it - the artwork does feel softer (more human) instead of cold and analytical!
