I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Finger-Waggers

This week I'll be using the Tarot of the Absurd, created and self-published by Jessica Shanahan. Along with it, I'll be using the Post-Psychedelic Cyberpunk Deck, created and self-published by Masha Falkov. Today's draws are the Seven of Sticks (Wands) and "The Door:"
Don't you just hate it when people stick their fingers in your face and try to shame and intimidate you? That's what I see with Shanahan's illustration. She writes that this card is about "a struggle after initial satisfaction" and suggests holding one's ground with determination and courage. There will always be folks who disagree with how and why I do things. As long as I know my motives are honorable, I shouldn't fear the finger-waggers. Yet Falkov's Door means the ability to look at things in a different way. Perhaps some of those people with stick hands have some helpful wisdom to share, if I can keep an open mind. No need to abandon ship, but I could try out a new oar.

  1. These are fine cards illustrations Bev, and I love your interpretation.
I've had one of those finger-waggers just this week. Got me really thinking about resentment (something I can't afford) revenge, happiness, and my "ability to look at things in a different way." I came across a few things. Here's a quote I found. I thought was the best.

" Grace is when somebody hurts you and you try to understand their situation instead of trying to hurt them back. "

    I'll pray for grace!

    1. Sounds like you were able to push the pause button instead of retaliate. A mature choice! And that quote you shared is a great way to keep the heart open while maintaining one's boundaries. :)

  2. Yup pressed the pause button for sure. When you do that, it's interesting to sit back and watch the show ;) It's not a good one and the reviews are bad too!

  3. My initial thought was to push them all out the door and shut it!
But yours and Catherine's are more mature I guess.
Btw how did you meditation group "behave" yesterday? Where there finger waggers again? :)

    1. It was a very small group (we are having fall break here, so several people are on vacation). But one of the fellows who was there always likes EVERYTHING we do, so his enthusiasm gave me an encouraging boost. :)

  5. And then there is the finger-wagging we do to ourselves....looking at your combo my response is to show them the door lol.

  6. Ha ha, the big stick guy looks like he could squash all the others. Yet, maybe they are only wagging so hard because they feel he is too big to hear them otherwise... I remember my stepdad admitting that dealing with him you had to say things three times and loudly for it to get through... I guess that brings me back to the comments about listening :)

    1. That tree man does look more annoyed than anything else. :D But I have dealt with people who were so busy, they often forgot to listen!
