Sometimes you're the windshield
Sometimes you're the bug
~ Mark Knopfler
Well it's pretty obvious the guy holding all the swords isn't the 'bug.' But even if he won the battle, he's left nothing standing in his wake. Was this to make sure his enemies wouldn't be able to launch a counterattack? Or was he simply making a point that he was the best and smartest, and they should never forget it? The smoke and flames in the background remind me of the phrase 'burning bridges,' an expression that means leaving yourself no alternative but to continue on the present path. The tornado card indicates rapid movement that destroys everything along its trail. That doesn't sound like a plan of strategy to me, but rather an impulsive reaction. It reminds me of someone who goes to court in order to ruin someone else, wins the case, and yet spends all his resources in the process. Being impetuous may sound daring and exciting, but thoughtful deliberation before action can leave more than rubble and ruined relationships when it's all over and done.
Ooooh teacups Bev! Does she have any Meissen teacups in the deck? Remember our Meissen exercise? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'd love this deck too but it's a bit costly. I love teacups, but collected just one in my life since i don't have room. BUT, in a deck--I shall have to speak to the spouse...
Hello my friend! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. I emailed the creator about the deck, which she had printed through Printer Studios. PS just had a huge price hike, which is why her deck seems so pricey. My lojong deck that was originally listed at about $25 suddenly shot up to over $38! I changed my markup to 0% since I don't rely on sales for my livelihood, but unfortunately other deck sellers can't afford to do this. I love the simplicity of this deck (no keywords on the cards), and the teacups remind me of my grandmother. :)
DeleteLove that quote!
ReplyDeleteHeehee, I loved Mary Chapin Carpenter's version of the song. :)
DeleteYour headline paired with your comments made me think that while Five of Swords chap might not win himself any friends amongst the bug population, he could seem a windshield saviour to those facing a tornado. One of those 'do the ends justify the means questions, perhaps... :)
ReplyDeleteHaving been in a few tornadoes, I'm not sure that windshield will do much good! I think he's going to have to try a new approach. :)
