I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Detour Ahead

From the Wheel of Change, the Queen of Swords:
This woman uses the art of origami as a form of meditation. She folds paper cranes, a symbol of peace, and hangs them on an evergreen tree. The Queen of Swords is well aware that distracting thoughts and emotions are like a whiteout in a blizzard. Intelligence isn't worth much without the structure of clarity and reason. As she folds and creases the paper, she sharpens her focus, allowing all that is unimportant and unnecessary to fall away. She might seem as cold as the snow drifts outside, but if you're looking for solutions or strategies, this is the queen you want to go see.

From the Oracle of the Dreamtime comes the "Lightning Man:"
This cloud rider with bolts in his hands and clubs on his knees (for thunder) comes as a warning to find another way other than the one I'm intent on. I've witnessed a few strikes hitting large trees, peeling off long strips of bark and leaving the tree smoking. It's one of those moments when your legs start moving without consciously thinking about it first. I think the Queen above would get along fine with this guy. While she has the brains, he's the one that holds the signpost that says "detour ahead."

  1. What a peaceful depiction of my favorite queen. I could never see her as cold; reserved maybe but not cold. This picture does make me think of the importance to weigh and consider your options because she is patient; not in a hurry to decide
even when Lightning Man comes around she will figure out she shortest scenic route on Google maps

    1. This queen is probably the one who invented Google maps - the king would never think to ask for directions, hee hee.
I love this deck because it uses such nontraditional images such as this one.

  2. Speaking of hanging on trees, Advice please. My power sticks are on the trees at the farm which is going up for sale.
I don't particularly want to take them down but if I do (they were POwerful medicine) should I bury them or what? Doesn't seem quite right to leave old power for new people with their own needs...another mind loop. Thanks

    1. If they haven't rotted away or fallen apart, I personally would take them down and hang them in another place if you can find one. It just feels like too sacred a thing to leave for someone who might destroy without understanding their purpose.
