This week I'll be using the Touchstone Tarot, created and self-published by Kat Black. Along with it I'll be using the John Waterhouse Oracle, created and self-published by Elaine Wilkinson (aka Seven Stars). Today's draws are the Ace of Cups and "Emperor Honorius:"
This angel offers a cup of joy and peace with the only catch being I have to accept it. But here's the thing - it means letting go of my gripes and filling myself with gratitude. There's no likes or dislikes because this kind of love is unconditional. Which leads to the next card, a part of a Waterhouse painting called The Favourites of the Emperor Honorius. What can be seen in the card is the Emperor feeding the pigeons, but off to the side in the painting are men of his council waiting to speak with him. Now I completely understand this guy; there are animals I'd rather hang out with than some people I know. But the Ace of Cups reminds me that the waters of kindness and patience should flow out to everyone, not just a special few.
Pfff that is very difficult to practice. It is easy to love family and friends but everyone? Maybe if I would love myself more confidently and felt stronger on the inside.
ReplyDeleteLoving everyone without knowing if this love will be mutual would make me fear to be emptied out completely
I understand - it is a bit overwhelming to think you must love everyone unconditionally. But if I come at it from just trying to be kind and patient, it seems more doable. :)
DeleteYou are right it is more about the intention I guess.:)
DeleteMaybe I reacted a bit too strong. which says more about me than about loving unconditionally :D
:D
DeleteI cant honestly say I like everyone, but do try to love them in the sense I attempt to see the good within them, and I know that exists in everyone. I also love my critter company.
ReplyDeleteIt is always much easier to love those who are so loveable. For me there is more to be learned in loving those less loveable. It is easier said than done for sure. This makes me think about what was said about even the hypocrites love their loved ones.
As they say, you can't learn patience and tolerance without someone to practice on! :)
DeleteFor sure! When I was in student teaching there was a young women in the same art education program, I couldn't stand her. She was loud and overbearing, opinionated and plain obnoxious. When Summer arrived I applied to go to Newfoundland to an extremely remote spot to teach. Guess what? Last minute I ended up going with her, living in a shack, no running water indoor toilet, no electricity, and a wood stove. Any way, I had to make my mind up to try and like her. It was hard because we were exact opposites. In the end we became good friends. This sure was the best life lesson ever for a young woman of 23. You ask God for understanding, patience etc.? Be careful what you ask for! lol
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had to learn the principles of patience and tolerance the hard way. Good that you ended up being friends. Some of the people I couldn't imagine being close to have surprised me when I gave them the chance.
DeleteExactly! Believe me, I had a few dark thoughts! ;)
