I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Tossing and Treading

From the Navigators of the Mystic Sea, the Two of Pentacles; from the Celtic Lenormand, the Snake:
The keyword given for the Navigators card is 'permutation,' or the act of changing the arrangement or order of something. Instead of the usual one person, this illustration has two figures who toss their pentacles to the other. The booklet states that "You need support from partners and friends to work toward a successful outcome in business or creative projects after you have organized your enterprise carefully." Once I get my ducks in a row, I need to ask for assistance. I can adopt the two-year-old mentality of wanting to do it myself or the victim mentality of thinking no one has time to help, but neither of these options will prove useful (and will likely add to my stress level). It would be much more beneficial to reach out. McCracken foregoes the usual meanings of the Snake - manipulation and deception - and chooses to use the meaning of transformation. As the snake is pictured shedding its skin, this makes sense. However there is still a need for warning, as Doctors Foster and Smith point out: " During this period, the snake's vision is impaired and behavior can become unpredictable and aggressive since the snake is in a vulnerable state." After working alone, it may feel like someone is stepping on my toes with their suggestions. Better remember not to take everything so personally and to be careful where I step too.

  1. Are those the Pleiads in the night sky?
You mentioned awhile back you were working on a new deck, is that why you feel like someone is stepping on your toes after sharing? Maybe some star gazing will help.

    1. I believe it is the Pleiads! :) Which makes sense, as the seven sisters were the companions and helpers of Artemis. No one has stepped on my toes, but I will require assistance in printing the cards and booklet, so I need to keep an open mind!

  3. I really enjoyed reading this post. That is an interesting two of pents - instead of juggling alone throw the ball to someone else they add their own polish and throw back and so on and on until the project is finished. This food for thought for me. I am looking forward to your new deck. :)

    1. Thank you! Well, like my lojong deck, this new one will be more for contemplation than divination. :)

  4. I didn't know about the snake's eyesight being impaired while it sheds its old skin - interesting insight. As you say, there is need for caution, even when a permutation or transformation is taking place, or perhaps especially then! Good luck with it, and I look forward to hearing about your new deck :)

    1. I read that all their senses are dulled while then old skin loosens and is shed. That would make me touchy too!
