I use tarot and oracle cards as tools for reflection and contemplation. Rather than divining the future, they are a way for me to look more deeply at the "now."

Tend the Fire

From the Transformational Tarot, the King of Wands; from the Celtic Book of the Dead, the "Dragon Stone:"
The King of Wands is just as adventurous as the Page, passionate as the Knight, and enthusiastic as the Queen, but he has one more added trait - perseverance. He has a reputation for being a "Closer," one who finishes what he starts. The tarot card shows a man performing a ritual in front of a large fire, and I think of all the times I have started a project or made a goal with such fiery eagerness. But either life would interfere with other obligations, or I would lose my interest and put things aside (where they would inevitably gather dust). Yet this King reminds me some things are worth the extra effort, and I should nurture the passion that keeps me moving toward my objective.
The Dragon Stone represents a gift that empowers, a stubborn strength that overpowers any challenges. Its invincible quality symbolizes the courage that comes from convictions. Now I know something about being tenaciously stubborn <grin>, so here is my chance to use it for something worthwhile.

  1. YOU are worthwhile!!!!! (((Bev)))
It seems we are back to the main issue. Can you maintain that fiery eagerness when it is about you? can you give yourself that gift of perseverance when you are the objective?

    1. Yes, there seems to be parallel messages in both our daily readings for today! :D
I suppose I need to dig in and discover why I think my stuff is less worthwhile (not worth fighting for) than other people's agendas.

    2. Or for now you could try to accept you are as worthy as everyone else and give yourself the love you deserve. You can always dig later :)

    3. Oh tending the fire has long been my nemesis, being an artist and a grand procrastinator to boot. I heard this word the other day ' procaffeinating ' which translates, drinking coffee while procrastinating. YA! Coffee actually if it's not too much consumed helps me to get things done. Don't be hard on yourself Bev, you aren't alone. It's why I write every day. If I can't get at my art, I know I will, but writing for me always keeps the creative flow going.

    4. "Procaffeinating" - oh my gosh, that is hysterically funny! I definitely rely on my cup to help me get moving. :)

  2. I've been thinking about this perseverance issue, too. At the moment, I have lots of ideas, but only a couple that I'm actually working on. It's not that I don't think the others are worthwhile, but that I recognise my limitations. Perhaps this is a part of the King of Wands, and the Dragonstone, too. Knowing what you can do, what you can delegate, and what needs to be set aside for the moment… :)

    1. Absolutely! I think part of the maturity of this King is that he fully focuses on one thing at a time instead of having too many irons in the fire. :)
